About the role  

 

The Donor and Product Safety Biostatistician/Data Analyst plays a pivotal role within the Donor and Product Safety Policy Unit (DPU), part of the Pathology and Clinical Governance team. This position is responsible for providing expert statistical and analytical leadership to support donor and product safety initiatives, business operations, and research activities that contribute to the safety and quality of Lifeblood’s products and services.

 

Combining advanced scientific, biostatistical, and data analytics expertise, the role drives the development, planning, and delivery of routine reporting, research projects, and complex statistical analyses. The successful candidate will apply innovative analytical and modelling approaches to address emerging challenges, including assessing and responding to changes in donor adverse event trends.

 

Working collaboratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, this role offers the opportunity to influence evidence-based decision-making, contribute to high-impact research, and play a key role in safeguarding donor and patient outcomes.

 

Some travel is required as part of this role. 

 

Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for: 

 

  • Tertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics or econometrics or a science degree and a post graduate qualification in statistics
  • Work experience as a statistician or data analyst in a medical or epidemiology environment.
  • Applied expertise in advanced statistical methods to solve real-world challenges such as clustered and longitudinal data, missing data, rare events, and data linkage. Examples include generalised linear models, survival analysis, mixed models, and Bayesian approaches.
  • Proficient in the analysis of technical, quantitative and/or qualitative data, as appropriate to the role, including excellent working knowledge of analytic and statistical software such as R, STATA and/or SPSS.
  • Experience in contributing to research projects, including project design, analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Evidence of contribution to quality presentations, conference papers, and/or publications in high quality peer reviewed journals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate research outcomes in high quality presentations, briefings or written reports to a range of audiences, including non-researchers.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with Power BI reporting and Databricks platform is desirable
