Discover life-giving possibilities

Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career; it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. As an organisation, our purpose is simple: to give life. Together, we want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.

About the role

We’re seeking a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) Secretariat Officer to provide high-quality advice to Lifeblood researchers and others across Lifeblood on matters relating to research ethics and to provide secretarial and administrative support to Lifeblood’s Human Research Ethics Committee. This pivotal role ensures our research meets Australia’s national ethical and regulatory standards before projects commence.

You’ll be the organisational backbone of the HREC, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and documentation, advising on ethical review processes, and liaising with researchers and senior stakeholders across Lifeblood and external research partners. Your ability to understand and interpret scientific concepts and research methodologies will be key to supporting effective and compliant decision-making.

About you

You’ll bring a unique combination of scientific understanding and governance experience. You’ll also have hands-on experience in a scientific or research environment - enough to grasp complex research methodologies and communicate confidently with senior academics and researchers.

You’ll also have:

  • Postgraduate research qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience providing secretariat support and advice to Human Research Ethics Committees or similar governance bodies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working alongside senior research professionals.

This is not an entry-level role, it’s ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of science, governance, and administration, and who takes pride in enabling ethical, high-impact research that makes a difference.

This is a permanent, part-time position (0.8 FTE) commencing mid-late January. It is a hybrid position, rotating between WFH and one of our Processing Centres. Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne based candidates will be considered. Lifeblood is proud to accommodate flexible working, and we are open to conversations around what this means for you.
