Step into the heart of regional Victoria with Lifeblood's Donor Mobile Unit. In this role, you'll travel to towns in regional victoria - connecting with communities and and making a real difference.
About the role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Melbourne West Donor Mobile Unit team travelling regional Victoria with fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional service to our donors. As a Registered Nurse, you will support our donors through their donation process while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets.
The role will require regional travel to locations such as Swan Hill, Echuca, Seymour, Maryborough, Hamilton, Horsham, Ararat, Colac and Torquay. A Lifeblood vehicle will be provided for travel purposes to be collected from our Melbourne CBD Processing Centre or Ballarat Donor Centre. While working as part of the Mobile Unit team additional allowances up to $113 per over night stay are applicable as per our enterprise agreement.
Working on the mobile Unit could see you:
- Travelling to different Regional Locations in Victoria
- Collaborating closely with a small but supportive team
- Building strong connections with Local communities
- Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
- Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
- Set up machines, various tubing and collection bags
- Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
- Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
- Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
- Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation
Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an amazing donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:
- Be comfortable travelling across regional Victoria via Car (Up to 4 hour Drives) and stay overnight (accomodation provided) for 4 nights at a time.
- Pick up a Lifeblood vehicle from either Melbourne CBD or the Ballarat Donor Centre and travel to our Regional Donor Mobile Unit locations across Victoria for 5-day placements.
- Hold a Valid Australian Driver's License with no restrictions
- Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
- Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
- Use your nursing expertise and hold a current AHPRA registration.
- Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday
