Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career, it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. As an organisation, our purpose is simple: life giving donations, for life changing outcomes. Together, we want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.

About the role

Step into a rewarding role that directly impacts life-changing donations. Working with our generous donors, enjoy a more predictable, people-focused environment, with less hospital pressure and the chance to be a key part of the community.

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring your fantastic customer-facing skills and passion to deliver an exceptional service, while working together to ensure Australia’s supply of blood products.

A day in the centre could see you:

  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and collections equipment
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to have:

  • Strong Customer Service Experience: Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring a friendly, approachable, and positive atmosphere for visitors and donors.
  • Willingness to Take on New Challenges: Motivated to assist in various tasks and support team goals, helping achieve collection and operational targets.
  • Team-Oriented: Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Ability to work a rotating Mon-Sun fortnightly roster, including weekend and afternoon shifts
  • Utilise your expertise having completed a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and hold a current AHPRA registration
  • Capable of lifting between 9-22.7kg and frequently standing, walking, and bending to set up and pack down machines and blood products.
