About the role

 

We're on the lookout for a Registered Nurse to join our team at the Miranda Donor Centre. If you've got great people skills and a real passion for helping others, we want to hear from you!

 

As a Registered Nurse with us, you'll be there for our donors every step of the way, making sure they have a great experience.

 

Here's what a typical day might look like:

 

  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate 
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests 
  • Set up machines, various tubing and collection bags 
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets 
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process 
  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance 
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation
  • Help create an awesome donor experience that keeps them coming back for more!

 

Besides having a real passion to deliver an amazing donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:  

 

  • Attend 40 hours across 7 shifts per fortnight (additional shifts may be available)
  • Be available for a variety of shifts inclusive of weekend and afternoons
  • Utilise your amazing communication skills
  • Support and foster a fantastic team culture
  • Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs 
  • Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products 
  • Hold a current AHPRA registration
