About the role
As a Data Engineer at Lifeblood, you will be a key contributor to the Modern Data & Analytical platform, responsible for integrating, transforming, and curating data from multiple operational systems into reliable, secure, and analytics‑ready data assets. You will work closely with analytics, governance, and platform teams to ensure data solutions are scalable, well‑architected, cost‑effective, and aligned to enterprise standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines using Azure-native and modern big data technologies.
- Integrate structured and unstructured data from diverse source systems into the Modern Data & Analytical platform.
- Build curated data layers to support analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption.
- Deploy and configure cloud-based data services, including storage, compute, and orchestration.
- Implement secure data access controls and support governance requirements.
- Monitor pipelines and platforms to ensure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Continuously learn and apply modern data engineering practices and patterns.
Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Solid experience working with Databricks and Apache Spark / PySpark.
- Advanced SQL skills, including analytical queries and performance optimisation
- Strong experience with Python for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with ETL / ELT orchestration tools, particularly Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Practical knowledge of Azure data services, including:
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2)
- Parquet file formats
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and modelling techniques:
- Data Vault 2.0 (DV2)
- Kimball / Star Schema
- Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD)
- Medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold)
- Platform, DevOps & Automation experience:
- Experience with Git and Azure DevOps for source control and collaboration.
- Terraform experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for deployment and testing.
- Exposure to Unity Catalog and Delta Live Tables is highly regarded.
- Experience working in SAFe Agile methodology would be beneficial
