About the role
Reporting to the Application Development Manager, you’ll be part of a team responsible for the development, delivery and support of Lifeblood’s bespoke application portfolio.

As an experienced Software Engineer, you’ll contribute across the full stack, working with Java and JavaScript/TypeScript to build and maintain applications that support both internal teams and donor-facing services. You’ll work within an Agile environment, contributing to DevOps and quality practices including CI/CD, pipeline management, and secure development. The role also involves working with cloud infrastructure and applying modern engineering practices, including the day-to-day use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity, code quality and delivery outcomes.

You’ll partner with internal teams and external vendors to deliver practical solutions, contributing ideas and improvements while continuing to build your technical capability across the platform.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of work from home and on-site, and includes the opportunity to participate in an after-hours support roster following your maturity in the role.

  • Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (CloudFormation).
  • DevOps experience with Git and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Pipelines, SonarQube).
  • Strong skills in SQL, HTML5, CSS3, and application servers (e.g. JBoss).
  • Experience with authentication and third-party identity integration.
  • Understanding of automated testing (Playwright, Jest, Selenium).
  • Experience using AI development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot).
  • Ability to assess and apply new technologies.
  • Contribute to technical improvements and platform evolution.
