About the role   
We are currently seeking a Laboratory Sample Management Supervisor to join our Victorian Transplantation & Immunogenetics Services (VTIS) team at our Melbourne Processing Centre in West Melbourne, VIC.

 

As a Supervisor, you will support the work we do to provide diagnostic laboratory testing for transplantation matching, identification of genes and antibodies affecting the immune response for tissue typing and investigations into leucocyte-related transfusion reactions.

 

The Supervisor position primarily performs the following:

•    Effectively leading a small team of technicians involved in receipt and management of all samples through the Central Booking Office (CBO), assisting with operational support tasks and providing excellent customer service.
•    Supervision and resourcing of CBO.
•    Trouble shooting and issue resolution.
•    Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including contacting medical professionals and pathology laboratories to ensure appropriate testing is undertaken.
•    Contributing to laboratory validation activities and change initiatives.
•    Ensuring adherence to quality requirements.

 

The role is a full-time position working Monday to Friday and is located out of our Melbourne Processing Centre, West Melbourne, VIC

•    A minimum education level of Bachelor of Science.
•    Good leadership ability to motivate and lead a small team.
•    Demonstrated ability to coordinate the team to deliver day to day work requirements and resolve issues to ensure delivery of business outcomes.
•    Experience in a pathology laboratory or similar environment.
•    Professional written and verbal communication skills.
•    Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
•    Understanding and use of quality systems in a regulated environment.
•    Actively participates to resolve issues and provide recommendations.
•    Previous experience with sample registration in a pathology or medical setting is desirable, including using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
