About the role
The Category Specialist is responsible for developing and negotiating business wide contracts that deliver cost effective solutions for operational requirements.
The Category Specialist will lead stakeholders through the development and execution of contract negotiations and pricing strategies and complete the contract record in the Contract Management System along with required templates for the procurement requirements in the Oracle finance system. The Category Specialist will also lead all phases of sourcing, including planning, analysing expenditures, identifying cost items, negotiating and generating contracts.
This role will support the repositioning of the procurement function at Lifeblood, lifting the functions’ profile and emphasising communications with stakeholders.

- At least 4 years’ experience in a strategic procurement function, with demonstrated end-to-end source-to-contract experience beyond transactional buying or purchase order processing
- At least 4 years’ experience in a strategic procurement function, with demonstrated end-to-end source-to-contract experience beyond transactional buying or purchase order processing
- Experience developing sourcing strategies, running tendering or quotation processes, managing evaluations, preparing recommendation documentation, and supporting contract negotiations through to execution
- Commercial experience, especially understanding Agreement terms and conditions and negotiating same
- Demonstrated ability to apply procurement governance, probity, evaluation methodology, approvals and contract documentation requirements across the full sourcing lifecycle
- Ability to manage projects and establish clear goals, schedule and documented outcomes to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria)
- Experience managing multiple sourcing events simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to suit all levels of audience.
- Advanced systems skills and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge (able to create and manipulate pivot tables)
- Effective interpersonal, communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Able to build trusted and collaborative working relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to suit all levels of audience.
- Demonstrated ability to use ERP software
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field would be highly regarded but not essential
