About the role
Lifeblood's Strategic Transformation & Readiness team is strengthening its capability across strategy, transformation and delivery to help Lifeblood optimise today and build for tomorrow - exploring new opportunities and creating lasting value for Lifeblood and the communities we serve.
As our Product Owner – Plasma & Supply Growth, you'll be part of a team leading sustained, disciplined exploration of new collection pathways, equipment and supply chain approaches that don’t yet exist at scale in this country. This isn't a traditional Product Owner role focused on managing a delivery team through implementation. You'll work closely with the Product Lead to turn strategic direction into clear, prioritised work, driving initiatives from discovery through to proven outcomes and building the evidence base that supports good decisions about what should progress and what should stop.
You'll work across donor centres, manufacturing environments and supply chain operations to understand why plasma supply is constrained, test assumptions through structured pilots and trials, and generate the evidence that determines whether opportunities are worth pursuing. You'll work closely with a Hardware Specialist on equipment evaluation, draw on shared data and business analysis capability, and partner with different business units understand the operational realities of collection and processing.
- Investigate complex operational, supply chain and plasma growth challenges to understand root causes rather than jumping to solutions.
- Design and run pilots, trials and experiments that generate evidence and support informed decision-making.
- Use data to test assumptions, identify patterns and build the case for future investment opportunities.
- Lead structured assessments of emerging ideas, including operational, commercial, regulatory and customer considerations.
- Manage the squad backlog and coordinate cross-functional contributors to keep exploration activities moving forward.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing & Logistics teams to understand operational realities and test potential solutions.
- Work alongside specialists in hardware, data, business analysis and strategy to build a robust evidence base.
- Develop clear recommendations on whether opportunities should progress, pause or stop, with the evidence to back that call
Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Experience in innovation, exploration, product ownership, or operational improvement.
- Experience working in complex environments such as healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology or other regulated environments.
- Strong analytical capability and the ability to use evidence to drive decisions.
- ability to navigate competing priorities and make pragmatic sequencing calls, surfacing trade-offs clearly rather than absorbing them.
- Commercial mindset and an ability to assess opportunities through both operational and value lenses
- Confidence working with in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces where the right answer is still being discovered.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across operational, commercial and senior leadership groups
- Experience working within stage-gated innovation, exploration or new product development frameworks (desirable)
