About the role
Reporting to the Application Development Team Lead, the Senior Application Developer works in the team responsible for the development, delivery and support of numerous bespoke Lifeblood applications used in Donor Centres and Manufacturing and Processing Centres across the country.
As Senior Application Developer, you will provide guidance for Application Developers whilst encompassing your ability to write code in Java and Javascript (React) for the creation and ongoing maintenance of applications at Lifeblood. This includes DevOps, SecOps and quality procedures, within a Safe Agile operating environment. The role works closely with Lifeblood’s partners and internal agile teams to deliver individual application solutions for both internal and external donor use.
The role is blended work from home and from office and may be required to provide after-hours support on a rotating roster basis.
Sound interesting? Here’s what we are looking for;
- 6+ years’ experience with Java web technologies (Spring, Spring MVC, Struts, Hibernate/JPA) and JavaScript applications (including React.js)
- Strong cloud expertise in AWS and Azure, including infrastructure as code, cloud formation, terraform, and DevOps capabilities
- Experience with database systems (Oracle/MySQL), JBoss server, and integration through SOAP and REST web services
- Frontend development skills including CSS3, HTML5, and modern web application development
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Sonar Qube) and security tools (Wiz)
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and data handling
- Experience in peer to peer code review and pair programming session
- Bachelor's degree in relevant ICT discipline
- Ability to contribute to technology strategies and influence solution direction across stakeholder groups
- Strong relationship building with internal/external stakeholders, users, and business leaders
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting technical solutions to non-technical audiences
- Strong degree of innovation and able to influence, facilitate and negotiate effectively
- Understanding of secure coding and data handling practices
This is a permanent position with a hybrid working environment. While we have a preference for full-time, we are also open to part-time for the right person. This role will be based out of our Processing Centre in Melbourne, however we are open to candidates from other locations within Australia.
