About the role
We are currently seeking a Technician to join our Victorian Transplantation and Immunogenetics Services (VTIS) team at our Melbourne Processing Centre in West Melbourne, VIC.
As a Technician, you will support the work we do to provide diagnostic laboratory testing for transplantation matching, identification of genes and antibodies affecting the immune response for tissue typing and investigations into leucocyte-related transfusion reactions.
A day as a Technician could see you:
- Provide sample booking and coordination
- Prepare samples for testing
- Contact medical professionals and pathology laboratories to ensure appropriate testing is undertaken
- Ensure adherence to quality requirements
- Provide laboratory support

- Technical qualification and/or relevant experience
- Experienced data entry with high level accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft office programs
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks
- Understanding and use of quality systems
- Previous experience in the use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) highly desirable
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent with major in immunology and/or genetics desirable
