About the role
As our Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for volunteers, bringing together your customer service mindset, organisational skills, and recruitment experience to attract, engage and support a passionate volunteer workforce.
Working closely with the National Volunteer Manager, you’ll ensure volunteers feel valued, well-supported and set up for success, while aligning their skills with where they’re needed most. This is a role where strong relationships, attention to detail, and a genuine care for people will make a real impact every day.
A day in the role of a Volunteer Coordinator, will see you:
- Act as the first point of contact for volunteer enquiries across phone, email and online channels
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including screening, interviewing and arranging checks
- Support volunteer onboarding, training and ongoing engagement
- Build strong relationships with Donor Centre teams to match volunteers to operational needs
- Help deliver and embed the national volunteer strategy
- Coordinate volunteer reviews and maintain accurate records
- Provide guidance and training to teams supporting volunteers
- Deliver a high-quality, consistent and people-first volunteer experience

- A genuine passion for customer service and creating positive experiences
- Experience in recruitment and onboarding of volunteers (or coordinating people in a similar setting)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while building effective relationships with stakeholders
- Strong administrative and systems capability (MS Office essential)
- Experience with volunteer programs or Better Impact (desirable)
